This booklet is a summary of the achievements, lessons learnt and challenges of a two – year project titled – “empowering citizens to demand for a health sector that is accountable and relevant” funded by the Open Society Initiative for Eastern Africa (OSIEA). The purpose was ‘’to strengthen mechanisms for improved accountability and citizens’ participation in planning and delivery of quality health services in Uganda’’.
In this project, UNHCO supported engagements at community and national levels
promoting and advocating for increased transparency and accountability in health
services delivery. It focused on empowerment of communities to demand and
participate in improving health service delivery in the districts of Sheema, Masaka,
Mukono, Oyam and Dokolo districts of Uganda.
